I have this habit of keeping a notebook in which I write significant events in my life and the lessons I learn along the way. I was looking through my most recent one a couple of days ago and came across this short article I wrote on 'money' last summer. I was happy reading it because I realized I had actually applied that lesson to my life.
Last summer, I used to work as a dispatch in a cab company. The owner was having a hard time financially, so he usually found it hard to pay me on time. On one such occasion, I got really frustrated and irritated since I had made plans to use the money as soon as I got paid. I started having all these angry feelings towards my boss, whom I got along with very well. When he finally gave me that money, in cash, I had an epiphany. I stared at those hundred-dollar bills and wondered how something so lifeless could have such an effect on me. I had let money almost destroy the wonderful relationship I had with my boss. That is when I realized money is nothing but paper we humans have attached so much importance and value to, and thus given it the power and ability to control us.
I really wasn't pleased with myself and I prayed that by God's grace, I would never again let money influence me negatively. Thank God a similar incident has not repeated itself. 1 Timothy 6:3-10 emphasizes how dangerous money can be...

verse 10 "For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs."
So, friends, it is important to always be aware of how money affects our lives daily.
