The 3 Deadly "D"s

Wow, time is really going by fast! I cannot believe January is already coming to an end. Maybe that is because it has been a very busy month. Holidays came to a quick end and school took off. Graduate school is definitely 10 times more work...or is it because my job is all about research? I do not know, but it is very overwhelming and I cannot wait to be done. However, I never lose sight of the fact that going to school is an opportunity to be thankful for everyday.

This month I have been thinking about a lot of things and I have also been struck by a lot of things, I want to share some of those things. In Genesis I read about the tower of Babel and was reminded of the power in unity. Look at the United States...one language, look at Africa...see how divided we are over tribes and religion...God help us. The story of Joseph also reminded me that no matter where we are, in jail or in a palace, God is with us and there is always hope as long as we depend solely on Him, not even on our very own selves.

Taking off the year with "Fasting and Prayer" has definitely helped me out a great deal. My life sure needed reconstruction. Sometimes it gets so easy to be distracted and caught up with things that do you no good. I will recommend this to everyone...it strengthens the Spirit. The pastor that led this "Fasting and Prayer" I participated in mentioned 3 things that seriously caught my attention; Disease, Divorce and Destitution...the three deadly D's. These are three powerful weapons Satan uses to destroy the lives of many Christians today. I call them deadly because they sure do kill the spirit.

Exodus 15:26 "Saying, if you will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord, your God and will do what is right in His sight, and will listen to and obey His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases upon you which I brought upon the Egyptians, for I am the Lord Who heals you."

Disease (sickness), is definitely not of God. However, our generation has shifted so far away from Him such that we are now vulnerable to the antiques of Satan. How does Satan use disease to get Christians? Simple. When he inflicts our bodies with sickness, what happens? Despair, fear, laziness, the search for quick and easy remedies. Then he sits on his earthly throne and welcomes you into his arms, because that is just what most of us will do. But we have to reject that sickness before it happens. Even if we are in pain and the doctor has said this or that, we have to speak healing. Think about it, if Jesus took all my sicknesses on that fateful day on the cross of Calvary...why the heck should I be sick? If I am truly covered by the blood of the Lamb, all such spirits should not even see me. In Exodus, remember the Passover? Because of the blood of the lamb on their doorposts, the homes of the Israelites were neither spotted nor visited by the spirit of death.

Matthew 19:6 " So they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder."

Divorce is a demon that is vehemently destroying modern society. Earlier this week, I was shocked by the announcement of Seal and Heidi's divorce. I know we should not expect much from the world, but I really thought they were the real deal! The gravity of the institution of marriage is no longer present in modern society. We no longer recognize the severity of breaking marital union. Marriage has been reduced to just something between two people, when in truth it is a covenant between man, woman and GOD! It is therefore definitely not a covenant to be broken. But when adultery is committed, that's just what happens and that is why adultery is the only Biblical justification for divorce. There is no longer a covenant to be kept after one spouse steps out on the other. How does Satan use divorce to destroy Christians? Simple. Trauma and emotional hurt usually make people get into stupid things. Without a family, the children are vulnerable to the world's influence. Who wins in the end? Satan.

2 Corinthians 9:8 " And God is able to make all grace (every favor and earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need, be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation.]"

Destitution (poverty) is not part of God's plan for His children. From the Gospels, one can easily tell that Jesus was a rich man. Not an extravagant man, but a rich man. Why do I say this? Jesus was not frivolous, but He always had what He needed not only for himself but also to bless others. Remember when he fed thousands? Remember when He had Simon fetch the "shekel" required to pay their taxes from the mouth of a fish (Matthew 17:27)? So why should a child of God beg or borrow? Why should a child of God have a need that is not met? All we need is a generous spirit and a thankful heart. Satan can use poverty in many ways. In fact he uses financial trouble to cause divorce all the time! He uses poverty to frustrate man and drive him into making stupid and wrong decisions. We have to be strong and confess God's Word...reject poverty! As children of God, ALL our needs are met in Jesus' name!

3 John1:2 : "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and that your body may keep well, even as I know your soul keeps well and prospers."

Let Jesus have your soul and you shall prosper in all things!!! Health, Wealth and Family!
