Now this month went by pretty fast, Lord where does time go??? The month ends with me officially being a year older, leaving me wondering how the heck I got here so fast. So I'm meditating on how important it is for us to spend the limited time we have on earth, the right way. Which is in preparation for life after. I recently asked myself the hard question: "How am I serving in Your kingdom now?" It was eye-opening in its own way and I pray many more will ask themselves this question.
So what were my thoughts this month?
Signs and Wonders! Oh how the modern church pursues signs and wonders. That on its own is a major problem especially in the African church. However, what I pondered this month is the situation where we ask You for a sign to affirm Your will or instruction. You know, just like Gideon did. But then in the Gospel according to Matthew 16:1-3, Jesus rebukes the pharisees for asking for a sign. Does this reflect a lack of faith? I must confess, I am sometimes a Gideon. Question is: how valid are these signs? Are they absolute? The aim of it all is to hear from You right? So I guess what I have to figure out is; how do I hear from You? The above mentioned verses of Scripture tell me that by Your grace I have the wisdom to make correct discernment in the various circumstances I find myself in. Your Word is a lamp unto my feet right? I have to trust You to guide my judgement, to guide me into making wise decisions.
Easter! There is no celebration more glorious. To remember, ponder and celebrate the ultimate sacrifice, which You made for us. For me. Yes, of this we need to be reminded as often as possible in order to re-gain perspective. You DIED for US, and the only right response to that is to LIVE for YOU. But oh how we easily get carried away and distracted by this fleeting world. Easter, like Christmas, is becoming more and more of a secular holiday. These significant landmarks in Christian history, that were originally celebrated as the crux of the Christian faith, have become more of an excuse to indulge in carnality than an opportunity to re-affirm our faith. Christmas has become more about presents and Easter more about eggs. How many of us, so-called Christians, take the time and make the effort to spiritually prepare for these holy seasons? How many of us even truly believe in the stories celebrated?
There is a difference between saying I believe and actually believing. We will all answer to You one day Lord, please help us to wake up to Your Truth...deliver us from the deceptive spirits that prowl the earth.
QUOTEs OF THE MONTH:
1.) Proverbs 16:9 "A man's heart plans his ways, but the Lord directs his steps." NKJV
2.)"Its NOT the love that sustains the marriage, its the marriage that sustains the love" - John Piper? Not too sure about who made this quote.
3.)Proverbs 29:25 "The fear of man brings a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe." NKJV
