Is God's Word TRUE?

If you are a Bible believing Christian, the answer to that question is YES.

Last Sunday, the Pastor preached out of the last chapters of 1st Samuel. My attention was brought to chapter 28, when Saul was about to go to war with the Philippines and desperately needed to know what his chances were.  After he reached out to God unsuccessfully, he decided to consult a medium. What we'll call a witch today. Hmmm. Two things have been on my mind since I read that story:

  1. We grossly underestimate and take for granted what Jesus did on the cross. When Jesus died, the curtain in the temple that separated the people from the presence of God was torn (Matthew 27:51). So whenever we call on the name of Jesus, we are granted full access...just like that we are forgiven;God hears us and answers us. I am sure Saul would have really liked that. If only he could have called on God in the name of Jesus, God would have not ignored Him. But instead Saul called and called desperately, but God had already turned away from him because of his sin. Thank God for Jesus. How many of us would be in Saul's shoes right now? Instead, because of Jesus' sacrifice we are saved from experiencing the fear, frustration and rejection Saul went through.
  2. There is a spiritual world. I am addressing particularly those who dismiss everything that is beyond the physical. Saul visited a witch and requested that Samuel's spirit be summoned (Samuel was already dead). After the medium did as he requested, Saul and Samuel's spirit actually had a conversation! I am a strong believer in the absolute truth of God's Word, and I believe every Christian should be too. That means witches are real and the spirits of dead men can be called and conversed with; these are not fairy tales! Civilization and Science make us crave for a logical explanation of everything, but unfortunately that cannot transcend into the world of spirituality.
