What do you believe?

The Oxford dictionary defines the word "Believe" as follows:
(verb) - Accept that something is true, especially without proof

I believe that there is a God. Creator of everything in the universe and beyond. God almighty. God who, as Jesus, emptied Himself of glory, splendor, power and majesty. God who for love willingly took up mortality...binding Himself to human frailty.

I believe that Jesus, God Himself, suffered in the flesh and hung dead on a cross for me. I believe this same Jesus opened His eyes after they were thought to have been shut forever, mending the bridge that had been burned by Adam and Eve centuries earlier, and becoming the ONLY way back to God the Father.

I believe in miracles. Yes, they did really happen as narrated in the Bible. Lazarus walking out of a smelly tomb. Demons dramatically exiting inflicted people. Thousands fed by a handful of food. Peter standing on water. Angels breaking disciples out of jail. They really can happen today as well.

I believe in judgement. Yes, that a God who loves so deeply will also punish so severely. Sodom and Gomorrah residents really burned alive. Ananias and Sapphira really dropped dead. The New Testament is full of warnings about a fiery place called hell, how can I ignore them as empty threats?

I believe Satan is real, not a fictional character, but a powerful and manipulative being. I believe the accounts in Job 1, Ezekiel 28 and Matthew 4 ... really did happen! I believe Satan is deceiving many, still using the same strategy he used in Eden; "Did God really say...?"

I believe a lot of us Christians flirt with worldly ideologies. We question God's word and cower when pressured by the world. We read bible stories like fairy tales, and church has become more like a club of good people... "having a form of godliness but denying its power..." 2 Timothy 3: 5 NKJV.

I believe many of us do not truly believe. We say we do, but our lives say otherwise. Satan ensures that we are caught up in the temporal things of this world, blinded to what really matters,  "...For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:18 NKJV
